Student Injured in Shooting at Wootton High School in Rockville
A shooting at Thomas S. Wootton High School in Rockville on Monday afternoon left one student injured and another in police custody, according to local authorities.
Rockville City police responded to the school, located on Wootton Parkway, at approximately 2:15 p.m. Officers found a student in a hallway with a gunshot wound. The injured student was transported to a nearby hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
The suspected shooter initially left the building but was quickly identified as a student and located near campus shortly afterward. Police confirmed the individual was taken into custody, and charges are pending.
School officials coordinated with law enforcement to safely reunite students with their families at Robert Frost Middle School later in the day. Authorities stated there is no ongoing threat to students, staff, or the surrounding community.
