Cycle Gear Opening New Motorcycle Gear Store in Rockville
Cycle Gear is preparing to open a new retail location in Rockville at 1500 Rockville Pike, taking over the former Party City space next to Tobacco King. Interior demolition has begun as the motorcycle gear and accessories retailer moves forward with its setup.
Founded in California in 1974 by motorcycle enthusiasts, Cycle Gear has grown into a nationwide brand known for selling riding apparel, helmets, parts, and accessories for both new and experienced riders.
The Rockville Pike corridor has long been known for practical, destination-style retail, and the addition of Cycle Gear continues that trend even as residential and mixed-use developments expand across the area.

The opening also comes at a time when the local motorcycle market is evolving. Montgomery County currently has limited dedicated motorcycle retail presence, and industry observers note that the number of licensed riders has shifted in recent years. Despite that, the company appears confident in the area’s demand for riding gear and aftermarket parts.
An official opening date has not been announced, but early construction activity suggests progress is underway. Once open, the store is expected to serve riders across Rockville and the surrounding region.
