Bahama Breeze to Close All Restaurants After 30 Years
Bahama Breeze, the Caribbean-inspired restaurant chain, is preparing to shut down all of its remaining locations after nearly three decades in operation. Parent company Darden Restaurants announced that the final restaurants will close in the coming months, marking the end of the brand’s long run in the casual dining industry.
According to the company, about half of the remaining 28 locations will close permanently, while the rest will gradually be converted into other restaurant brands within Darden’s portfolio. The final day of operations for several locations is expected around early April, with closures affecting multiple states across the U.S.
The decision follows earlier restructuring efforts. Over the past year, Bahama Breeze had already closed a significant number of outlets while the company evaluated future options for the brand, including a potential sale.
Industry analysts say the move reflects broader changes in the dining landscape. Many casual restaurant chains that cater to middle-income customers have faced challenges as rising living costs and inflation influence how often people dine out. At the same time, consumers are increasingly prioritizing value-driven dining experiences.
Despite Bahama Breeze’s closure, other brands owned by Darden Restaurants continue to perform well. Chains like Olive Garden and LongHorn Steakhouse have reported steady customer demand and sales growth, suggesting that diners are shifting toward familiar, value-focused options.
Darden says its priority now is supporting employees affected by the transition and placing as many team members as possible into roles across its other restaurant brands. The company also noted that several Bahama Breeze locations will remain open temporarily during the conversion process.
The closure marks the end of a recognizable dining brand that served guests for more than 30 years, reflecting how quickly the restaurant industry continues to evolve.
