About Due Date Calculation

A pregnancy due date is calculated as 40 weeks (280 days) from the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP). This is based on the assumption of a 28-day cycle with ovulation occurring on day 14.

Only about 5% of women actually deliver on their exact due date. Most babies are born within two weeks before or after the estimated due date.

Other Calculation Methods

Conception Date: If you know your conception date (for example from fertility treatments), your due date is 266 days (38 weeks) from that date.

Ultrasound Dating: Early ultrasound measurements (especially before 12 weeks) can provide the most accurate due date estimation by measuring the fetus's size.
